Elvis and the TCB Band, live in concert, and at their very best!!!

I have a rule of not reviewing any Elvis album here, *until* I have had a chance to hear *everything* on that album, at least once. I've had this 11-CD set for over a month, but last night, I finally listened to the last CD. I've listened to some of the discs twice. Now, I can say, these are, without a doubt, *the best* live concert performances that I have ever heard from Elvis and the TCB Band! He is clearly very happy to be back on stage, performing for a live audience, and his singing is great throughout all 11 CDs-- fiery, passionate, and raw on the rock and blues songs, and beautiful and elegant on the ballads. Particularly on the 7th and 8th discs, I have never heard Elvis sound better in concert. The TCB band is truly on fire throughout all of the concerts, and these shows are particularly special, not only for showcasing our man's return to live concerts, but also because they feature Larry Muhoberac on piano, organ, and electric piano. Larry had previously played on four Elvis movie soundtracks, but he was only with Elvis, in concert, for this opening Vegas engagement in 1969. After the concerts on this set, Larry was replaced by Glen D. Hardin, and while I love Glen's playing, Larry had a funky, bluesy edge to his playing that just went so very well with how Elvis sounded, live in Vegas, in '69. The TCB Band was more of a raw, bluesy, funky, rock and roll force with Larry's playing, and I love it, especially the electric piano work! The sound mixes on all of these concerts are incredible. Elvis and the band sound so powerful! If you turn up the volume, on a good home stereo, it truly sounds sounds like they are in the room with you, or, you are actually at the concerts in Vegas in '69! I've heard many great live rock and roll albums over my forty-five years of being a rock fan, but this set is right up there with the best! Do you need 11 CDs of Elvis in concert in Las Vegas in '69? When they are this good, yes, you do! This set has earned the full five-star rating from me, both vocally and musically, and the 51-page booklet is a thing of beauty too, with stunning photos of Elvis, and great interviews and quotes about him in Vegas. Seriously, do not miss this set. If you don't have it yet, buy it, while it's still available!
