In March 1960, Elvis Presley made a triumphant return to the music scene after serving two years in the U.S. Army. On March 23rd, he released his first post Army single; “Stuck on You” (A-side) and “Fame and Fortune” (B-side).
Shortly after, he filmed the “Welcome Home Elvis” episode of “The Frank Sinatra Timex Special,” his first television appearance since his return. Broadcast in May on ABC, Elvis performed both songs and sang a duet with Sinatra on “Love Me Tender” and “Witchcraft” where they traded verses.
“Stuck on You” soared to number one, while “Fame and Fortune” peaked at number 17, confirming Elvis fans had not forgotten him during his time away - and solidifying his undiminished star power.
