The Sessions Are A Godsend!

Elvis! What is there to say? Well, the further I dig deeper into his creativity, the more I love and respect him and his craft! To listen to the sessions deeply, the different takes, you listen to his input, you'll listen to how much further he takes the songs! To the point where the outtakes are sometimes better than the original Master! There is one take where he does Guitar Man and adds another song (Ray Charles) towards the end while playing the guitar and it sounds magical. The outtakes of Big Boss Man truly shines, there is one session where it is two takes and it will blow your socks off with the way they are jamming! At first I was sceptical about buying this CD, because I already had the Masters, but I pulled the trigger and bought it and it has become my favorite CD this far, as Elvis at Stax is my second favorite, another one I truly recommend. Is this CD for the average regular Elvis Listener? No, but I promise you that if you buy this CD, you will truly enjoy the musical output it offers. Another thing I must add, the sound quality is astounding, the clarity, the bass, the separation of instruments for recordings that are this old truly shines, Vic Anesini truly did an extraordinary job remastering this. All I can say is, sit back, listen to these disc's on a great pair of headphones, in a quiet room, and be blown away by the talent.... Enjoy.....

Swingin' Little Guitar Man

I had been looking forward to this set since it was announced. Now that it's here, it does not disappoint. Sound, as usual, is top notch by the excellent FTD Team of Vic and Sebastian. Even though there are some edits with some dialogue, they are done tastefully and enhance the listening experience. The music itself is great fun, with Elvis and the wonderfully underrated Jerry Reed trading quips in between takes. This is truly fly-on-the-wall listening. Some of the alternate takes are better than the final released master takes. Guitar Man, Big Boss Man, High Heel Sneakers are all fun infectious performances with a bit of jamming to go along with it. Elvis' beautiful tender ballad voice shines here on such beautiful tracks as Mine and You Don't Know Me, as well as the religious single tracks You'll Never Walk Alone and We Call on Him. This is one of the best of the sessions sets that FTD has given us over the last several years. Some of these songs are lesser known than Elvis' biggest hits, but just as great as anything he ever did. Highly recommended set by a fan of over 40 years.

Guitar Man Outtakes

Excellent selections of takes from these sessions that included the evolution of ELVIS’ hit version of GUITAR MAN with Jerry Reed on electric guitar. Welcome addition to my Elvis record collection.

Guitar Man

Great set. This when Elvis was the lowest part of his musical voyage through history. A must have
